If you’re in Canberra and looking for the best ways to treat your mum this year, you’re in luck. From relaxing lunches to craft markets, there’s something to make every mum feel special. There’s so much on it can be hard to make a decision, so we’ve narrowed it down to our top picks.
Mother’s Day Lunches
Here’s our handpicked list of the best places in Canberra to enjoy a Mother’s Day lunch. It’ll be perfect if your mum’s not a morning person and doesn’t feel like waking up early on her special day to go to High Tea!
Marble & Grain
Marble & Grain is a high-end steakhouse on Mort Street in Braddon, just below the Avenue Hotel. The restaurant is known for its beautiful decor, exceptional service, and finely crafted menu. This year, they’re hosting a Mother’s Day lunch to be remembered. It’s perfect if your mum likes the finer things in life! The lunch is $105 a head and includes a gourmet three-course lunch and a glass of sparkling wine when you arrive. You can book online through Eventbrite.

Atrium Restaurant
Invite your mum to a tropical, light-filled atrium for a two-course meal, and you’ll be in her good books until next year. Atrium Restaurant is located in the Pavilion of Northbourne Hotel in a leafy, relaxing environment – the perfect backdrop to celebrate your number one cheerleader. Lunch is $65 a head and includes a main, dessert, and a welcome drink! You can also book through Eventbrite.
Mum Cha at Lazy Su
Everybody likes Yum Cha, and Mother’s Day is as good an occasion as any. Lazy Su on Lonsdale Street is hosting a special Mother’s Day lunch with a Yum-Cha-inspired set menu that blends tradition with a modern flair. The entire menu is vegan and gluten-free. The one-off Mum-Cha set menu costs $60 per person, and for an extra $35, you can choose to indulge in bottomless beverages, including select cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic options. You can book through the Lazy Su website.

Mother’s Day Workshops And Activities
If your mum is on the active or creative side, an interactive activity is the way to go rather than a sit-down meal. There are so many Mother’s Day activities in Canberra this year that you’re bound to find something to do she’ll love. Here are some of my top picks:
Mumfest at Haig Park Village Markets
Haig Park is always host to great events, and Mumfest is one of their biggest. Mumfest will include stalls with handmade products, free yoga and cocktail workshops, live music, and food stalls. The event is free to end and might be one of your last chances to enjoy sunny weather in Haig Park before winter well and truly descends. The market runs from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, and there’s no need to book tickets. Just show up with your beloved mum in tow!

Mother’s Day Markets, The Fitters Workshop
The Fitter’s Workshop in Kingston is also hosting a Mother’s Day Workshop from 9 am to 2 pm. If your mum loves markets and wants to make a day of it, hit up both Haig and Kingston! These Mother’s Day Markets will have a wide variety of stalls, including specialty gifts, jewellery, fashion, sweet treats, hot food, coffee, home goods, and more! Like Mumsfest, this event is free to enter.
Mother’s Day Cruise
The Southern Cross Club is hosting a special Mother’s Day Cruise aboard its MV Southern Cross boat. Your mum will enjoy a three-course lunch, bottomless mimosas, and a beautiful view of the city from the lake. Tickets cost $120 per person, and the cruise lasts for three hours.

Family Craft At The National Archive Of Australia
If you want to celebrate Mother’s Day with the whole family, the National Archives is hosting a free crafting event for kids from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Your little one will get to craft a reflective hanging mobile from scratch – the perfect gift for their mum or grandma! It might also be a good idea to let her sleep in. You can surprise her with the gift before taking her out for a nice lunch!
This event is free. You can book through Eventbrite.
The Lawns X Spiral Botanicals
If your mum has always dreamed of being a florist, this is your chance to let her live the dream for a day. The Lawns of The Lobby, a brand-new dining precinct at King’s Goerge Terrace, is hosting a floral workshop in collaboration with Spiral Botanicals. Your mum will get to design a beautiful bouquet of her own to take home. You can also choose to add a lunch and bottomless mimosa package to make it extra fun!
The workshop runs for 90 minutes and costs $120 per head. You can book through Eventbrite.

Mother’s Day High Tea
Mother’s Day High Tea is such a classic that you can’t go wrong. There will be Mother’s Day High Tea events hosted all around Canberra – so many, in fact, that we can’t fit them all in this article. Check out our article on the Best High Tea Venues in Canberra and take your pick! Louis in Barton, the Capitol Bar and Grill, and the Hyatt are just a few great choices. Your options range from savoury to classic and decadent. Whatever you choose, we hope your mum loves it!
