After trying their takeaway and thinking it was quite decent, I suggested trying out Canberra Bar & Grill as soon as I had the opportunity. Despite being named Canberra Bar & Grill, the establishment is actually in Tuggeranong, at bottom of one of the many new apartments. Their menu, as the name suggests is a mix of pub feed and what you’d find on the grill. Their menu is also quite larger, which would usually make you second guess the quality, but let’s see how they go!
After looking through the menu, I ordered a parmigiana with chips and salad, while my guest ordered the club sandwich. My guest also ordered a wine.
Taste
The club sandwich was large and delicious. The taste was what you would expect of a traditional club sandwich. Certainly met expectations. I did have a bite of the club sandwich myself and thought it was great, I would have been satisfied with it if I ordered one myself.
The chicken parmigiana was also quite generous and tasted great. I could have done with a few more chips, and a little less onion in the salad. The parmigana exceeded my expectations, not by a lot, but I will definitely come back for another.

Service and Ambience
Given that it was a Friday night, it wasn’t a surprise to find that Canberra Bar & Grill was bustling. Everyone from mates catching up, to families (and dogs), and even larger groups. The general ambience was a lively one. We sat outside which was our choice, and the cool breeze from the lake kept us a happy temperature. As the sun set, they rolled up some of the blinds to control the light, and overall the ambience was great for everyone – from kids to adults.
Service was prompt, especially given how busy they were. The staff were friendly, responsive and welcoming.
Value for Money
The times of a ‘cheap pub feed’ are long gone in Canberra, so you’ll have to be very much calibrated to $25-$30 parmigianas. Given the size of the potions (my guest only had half their club sandwich), the value for money certainly is there. Even the glass of wine was a generous pour, probably 30-50% more than you would get elsewhere.
Location
Canberra Bar & Grill is located in Tuggeranong at the bottom of one of the new apartment buildings in front of Bunnings Tuggeranong. I wish they were closer to the water but that isn’t something they could control. Parking was okay, and should be okay for as long as Bunnings maintains the free parking they currently do.
